New Photos of Noah

Monitoring of large mammals with remote sensing cameras in Vashlovani National Park continues. The results of NACRES recent fieldwork are as follows: we have 22 fresh new images on the films of our remote sensing monitors. Notably we collected 5 new phots of Noah, our famous leopard. More


Otter Video

The project, "Eurasian Otter Research and Conservation in Georgia" launched in 2004 is part of NACRES’ long-term study of the otter population of the Alazani valley (East Georgia). This video was taken in the wild by NACRES’ remote sensing camera. This is the first video of otter in Georgia.

19th International Bear Conference will be Held in Georgia

19th International Conference on Bear Research and Management will be held in Tbilisi (Georgia), in autumn 2009. The conference will be organized by NACRES. The focus of the program is bear conservation in the region of the Caucasus.

International Conference on Bear Research and Management is held in different countries at least once in two years. The experts from all over the world participate in it. Recently the number of participants considerably increased. 400 people attended the conference in Mexico in 2007.

 

NACRES is a non-governmental, not for profit organisation that was founded in 1989. Its mission is to safeguard the biodiversity of Georgia and the South Caucasus, through conservation activities at national and local levels, based on sound science, sustainability principles and local participation.
